I recently visited the Facebook page of World's Last Chance .com. In the description they say, "Preparing a People for the Saviour's SOON Return!" Notice the stress on the word "soon."
Well folks, do not be frightened. Don't let the word "soon" worry you. When the apostles taught that "Jesus is coming soon," it meant thousands of years in the future. Even the word "immediately" in Matthew 24.29 meant thousands of years in the future. Has the definition of these words suddenly change to fit our time?
See what John says in Revelation 1.1-3...
This is the revelation of Jesus the Messiah, which God gave him to show his servants the things that must happen SOON. He made it known by sending his messenger to his servant John, who testified about this message from God and the testimony about Jesus the Messiah. How blessed is the one who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy and obey what is written in it, for the time is near! - ISV, isv.com
See the phrase "must happen SOON"? The KJV says, "must shortly take place." These people want you to believe that the word "soon" meant something different when John wrote it, than it does now. Today, it means, it's panic time!
These people aren't doing anything but trying to scare people into submission to their religious dogma. I call that religious terrorism. Unfortunately, many people will probably submit to it, and support these religious terrorists with their hard earned money or Social Security deposits.
These scare tactics have been used by religious leaders in America as long as I can remember. And based on history, a lot longer than that.
The word "soon" as used today, means the same thing as it did when John penned the book of Revelation. So, if the return of Christ was thousands of years in the future then, it is now.
