One of the myriad of apologetic arguments about the truth of the Bible is the reference made to the earth being round (as opposed to flat) in Isaiah 40: (Isaiah 40:22 NASB) It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. I am currently reading Job and came across this verse: (Job 22:14 KJV) Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven. Circle/circuit is the same Hebrew word. I quoted the KJV for Job because the NASB uses "vault" there. So if the chug of earth refers to the earth being a sphere, what does that tell us about heaven (or the sky)? One of the definitions of chug is compass or compassive. I believe that in both these verses the word is being used in the sense of a defined perimeter delineating an area or a thing (like a people—Israel), and is not used in the geometric sense. Though covenant creation had not even entered my mind when I first thought of this and started typing this post, it reminded me of it and goes along with its definition of "heavens and earth" as described in the Introduction here: beyondcreationscience.com/index.php?pr=Introduction_to_Covenant_Creation
