There is a lot of discussions in the virtual world over the meaning of 1 Corinthians 15, but Lets get this straight, 1 Corinthians 15 is not about the mode of the resurrection of the dead but is rather the teaching on the fact of its permanence by the action of Christ and His first fruits depiction through his own death defeating resurrection. The Corinthians were not troubled by Paul's teaching of Jesus' resurrection. They were troubled with believing the long dead of the Old Covenant Saints would be raised.
The permanent resurrection of Christ was what was preached. This message of His resurrection is what the Corinthians had already accepted thus it is illogical for them to deny permanent resurrections from the dead since Jesus set the pattern with His own resurrection. This is clearly misunderstood by Sam Frost and Paul Gates, aka PaulT, in that they seem to think this is speaking of the mode of the resurrection rather than the permanence of it. Therefore if this same resurrection was not really accomplished by Christ then the whole teaching of Paul was all in vain and their faith as well was in vain. In order to believe the Gospel one must believe the one time permanent resurrection of Christ. Not the mode as pertaining to the resurrection of the dead but rather the permanence of it.
verses 20-28 Therefore since Christ is raised from the dead (not just a resurrection like others who later died again) then too the assurance of the resurrection of the dead is guaranteed just as the prophets said would come based on the promise of God to Israel. It was the hope of Israel and the concern of its legitimacy that was on the hearts of the Corinthians. Christ thus became the first fruits establishing the permanence of the resurrection to come upon Israel. This resurrection was the same as taught by Daniel in Daniel 12:1-4 which says only Israel would participate in it. Paul taught this to the Corinthians and actually said he was supporting what the Scriptures had already said.
Christ is the first fruits of those who were raised to life eternal. He was not the first fruits of those who were raised to condemnation (the second death) because the resurrection of Jesus, which was taught, was to life eternal. And so since Paul has established that only those in Christ is who he is speaking of then we can easily see what Adam lost for all was regained for those in Christ. Not the elimination of physical death but the eradication of spiritual death through the permanence of His own resurrection. That resurrection has an order starting with the first of the Old Covenant saved to the last of the Old Covenant saved. Christ, establishing the fact with His first fruits action of permanence.
Daniel was told that this would all take place at the end of those days. Paul reaffirms this because he said he was teaching Scripture. Paul goes on to say that this was for those only in Christ, Daniel says it was Israel who would be Raised. Then at that time death was completely defeated. No more will the powers and authorities over death rule but instead the Kingdom of God rules. The kingdom is fully established at that time and no more will the resurrection need to take place. For just hs Jesus taught Martha in John 11:26 - no longer will the death in the likeness of Adam take place for Saints but only life even though the body dies. No longer do saints wait for the resurrection. Instead we are immediately in the presence of the Lord.
So since death is defeated and the kingdom is given to God then so God is completely all in all.
