In recent days, we've been hearing the media and some government officials speak of a government shutdown as if it would be a bad thing. They have explained that the "essential" parts of government would be functioning. The military would still function. Social Security checks will still go out. Only the non-essential parts of government would shut down. And, why would that be a bad thing.
If I were President, I would let the "non-essentials" of the government shut down. After a lengthy shutdown, the people of America would come to realize that the country can survive with the non-essentials of government. In fact, I believe the country would flourish without all the non-essentials of the Federal Government.
Consider this, non-essential government programs equals non-essential government spending. So, when I become President, the "non-essentials" would not only be shut down, they would be eliminated.
If the Republican House would really believe in less government and less spending, the only spending that should be included in any continuing resolution is essential spending. Let the non-essentials shut down till the Democrats gain some fiscal sanity. But, so far, I haven't seen much fiscal sanity come out of the Republican house either.
We need a President that will restore fiscal sanity to Washington D.C. With your support, I can be that President.
