Allyn,
Yesterday when I sent my resolve to the debate judge I noticed before he posted it that some things got deleted. So I asked him to wait until I posted a corrected resolve before he posted it. Then the corrected resolve got posted in a different form. So I posted it in its original form from a message I sent myself. Then I noticed this morning that scripture passages got deleted so I edited the resolve and added the scriptures which were in the corrected resolve that was posted.
Jeff seems to have had no problem with changes in his resolve. Could my problem be due to the fact that I have to click on "quote" from a "sent" pm? It appears that I have been doing something wrong seeing that Jeff has had no problem.
I guess I will have to put my rebuttals in "notesaver" so they can be copied and pasted in their original form and content. What are your thoughts about this?
Roo

I wouldn't use the note saver for this. It would be best if you used your wordpad on your computer or your notepad.

They are limitations of the system and/or my knowledge of the system. I chose to not bother the judge with these matters and to not upset or confuse our readers. If they turn out to be an issue, I assume that we have enough rebuttals and responses that we will have time to clarify any problems. Allyn, specifically, how do we turn text into a highlighted link? Is that possible? Is there an a href= command? Or are we limited to url?

Highlight some blockquoted text Ctrl-C to copy, then paste into Word. It isn't very pretty. I chose to not use that feature to save both myself and Jackaroo some grief. Jack's use of that feature will make cutting and pasting as difficult for me as it has already made things very frustrating for him.

The debate was never about quoting things directly. thats why we have points as a whole.
so within the rebuttals atttack or defend your points where one can always go back and look at the actual point that you posted up.

The quote feature will do a re-quote of another quotes already in the post you are trying to quote. This can be aggravating when all the person wants to do is quote only what the person you are quoting has said. What I do to get around this is use the quote button and then delete out everything I don't want. Its not the convienent way but it works. So if I quote a post that has a quote already in it, it first looks like this: note that I use paranthesis instead of brackets in this example. Brackets are the correct syntex but can not be used in the example: (quote author=jlvaughn board=test thread=786 post=8728 time=1297187464)(quote author=admin board=test thread=786 post=8725 time=1297186835]to turn text into a highlited hyper link you can see how to do it HERE(/quote)Thanks.(/quote) But what I want is only your quote which said Thanks. So do this: (quote author=jlvaughn board=test thread=786 post=8728 time=1297187464)Thanks.(/quote) This then makes the post look like I want it which is: To which I can then reply: You are welcome.

I'm not sure I have much to contribute here for helping with the problem. Regarding Jeff's comment about a "black background box of unreadable text," I experience that regularly. It happens when I copy a post containing quoted text into Gmail (I use Gmail to save copies of my own posts). Quoted text within my copy usually shows up with a small font and dark background. I can remove the dark background by highlighting the text in the boxed area and changing the "highlight color" to white. This is how I do it in Gmail, so specific methods will differ. However, it is not always the case that I get the dark background quotes. Sometimes when I copy posts with quotes, it comes out normal. I'll experiment a little and see if I can figure out the difference. - For quoting scripture or a passage from a book or commentary, I suggest not using the quote tag and simply set the quoted material off using another method, like italics, indenting, or even making the whole quotation a bullet. Like this is.
I'm not certain if bulleted text will copy any better than quote-tag text. Will have to experiment.

So my comments may no longer apply! I like the new quoting style. For single lines of text, it looks a little dorky. But for paragraphs and long quotes, I like the way it looks. Is the font size for those quotes adjustable?

I guess I need to chill a little. I was tired from the research and from putting the resolve together. It won't be a problem in the rebuttals. BTW, I was not blaming any person. My wife said I should clarify that. Roo

Is the font size for those quotes adjustable? I can change the font size from 1 on up. It is set at 3 right now. I experimented with the size and I thought 1 was too small for my eyes but this is not about my comfort so if what I have it set at now is 3 what setting might be better? I can easily change it an am willing to do so if we decide to implement the new quote look.

I'd like to see what it looks like one size larger. However, if that makes it the same size as the main body text, then the smaller size is fine.

I decided to scrap the quote change. It doesn't quote the whole post when doing a triple quote. I have deleted that test thread.
