Where I live the population is small and the adventures in shopping are limited by miles and stores but we do have some fun places to browse and shop. One of those places is a second hand store located in a town 13 miles from where we live. This store started out in a 2 car garage and was a shop which sold, for the most part, used clothing. Now and for over 15 years their new location has been in 3 connected old run down buildings with limited heat and stacked to the ceilings with everything from postcards to books and from sewing needles to antique furniture.
My wife is into book collections and I just like to look but on Saturday she and I went to browse and came home with an antique looking wrap-around style upholstered 2 seater chair (settee) and an old 1920's table radio and of course a book all for $74 dollars. Its one place we go where I feel like I am getting something more valuable then the money it took to buy them. All three items will find a place in our new old home.
The settee was listed for 85 dollars and so I asked the proprietor what he might take for it. I was prepared to pay 75 but he said "I'll take 65". I said I'll take it.

Sounds like you got a great deal, Allyn! I like looking around stores like that. I have a friend who is very much into antiques and we've gone "antiquing" together many times. The inside of her house is like visiting a very nice antique store. Her dream has been to go into the antique business after she retires from her government job (we were coworkers). Well, she retired this month, so it will be interesting to see if she pursues her dream!
