Friends,
I have told you about Tom and Brenda in the Prayer Forum. Tom hates his marriage and Brenda is definitely unhappy. Our daughter Rebecca brought her fiance Nathan and her roommate Heather home for Thanksgiving. I asked my daughter Rebecca privately why Heather did not go to her own home for Thanksgiving. Heather's home is only a four hour drive from school. Our home is a twelve hour drive from school.
Rebecca told me that Heather's family has a lot of problems and that when she goes home for the holidays it is always too stressful. Then I asked Rebecca what Heather told her mother and she said that Heather told her mother the truth that home is too stressful. Heather's mother was not happy about her decision not to come home for the holiday.
I would cry if our daughter ever told me that she did not want to come home for the holidays because it is too stressful. In fact, she called us from school several times in the last two weeks and said that she can't wait to come home. She even called us during her trip when she got stuck in the holiday traffic in Columbus Ohio. She said that she wanted to see us badly and that the traffic was causing her stress because it was obstructing her in seeing us quickly.
I am so thankful for this especially after seeing Tom and Brenda's situation and after hearing of Heather's not wanting to be with her own family. Last month my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and Rebecca sent us a card inwhich she thanked us for sticking things out in the tough times and remaining committed to one another. Eileen and I both cried a little by our daughter's words.
Friends, I am soooo thankful today. I have done a lot of things wrong and have had to apologize to my wife daughter many times over the years. Yet our daughter still loves coming home. I am just soooo thankful!
