It seems some folks have a problem with mixing Science with the Bible. So, I thought we could explore that.
First, the word "science" simply means "knowledge or knowing." We say God has "omniscience." The word means "all-knowing." The "knowing" part of the word is "science." From this, it is my understanding that the Bible is science, that is, the Bible is knowledge. It's not all knowledge, since God has not revealed all knowledge to us. We can read the Bible through a million times, and there will still be things we do not know.
Some have speculated on things we don't know and have made erroneous conclusions and called it science, which then makes some others leery of science in general. But, man has made some incredible advances in science/knowledge in the past 2000 years. We even put men on the moon, and returned them to earth again. And look what our computers can do, if you know how to operate them to their full potential, which I don't. But, those that do have actually found a missing day confirming what the Bible said about a missing day.
Doesn't the Bible say that we should pursue wisdom, and "with all thy getting, get understanding." And while some do that, is it too improbable that mankind has made advances in science/knowledge. If only he had made advances in character as well. But that's another subject.
Since man has made these advances in science/knowledge, what is wrong with applying it to the Bible? I am not talking about speculation. I am talking about knowledge - there is a difference. True science, if it has any Biblical implications, will only serve to confirm the Bible.
So, just because some have based there so called science on speculation, does not mean we should totally disregard all science. Nor should we ignore Biblical truth because some have mucked it up with false science.
In case you're wondering why I am bringing this up now. Well, you may not believe this, but God told me to. No, not verbally. I had a dream last night. In this dream, I was opening a school called "(Location) School of Scientific Studies." The courses included, Biblical Science, Political Science, Earth & Mineral Science, Biology, etc. Also in this dream, there was a discussion about the Biblical Science course that was similar to discussions we've had here, and on other boards. And that's why I am writing this today.
On a lighter note, I noticed that the "sunny" smilie keeps good time with songs that are common time, like many country songs are. So, he's not nodding - he's dancing.
