Isaiah 11:1-3 NASB (1) Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. (2) The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. (3) And He will delight in the fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;
We see the Spirit of God resting upon Jesus at his baptism in Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, and John 1:32. But the correlation of Isaiah 11:2 does not end with his baptism, but continues with his temptations in the wilderness:
(1) Isaiah 11:2 - Wisdom and Understanding (1) Matthew 4:4 - MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD
(2) Isaiah 11:2 - Counsel and Strength (2) Matthew 4:7 - YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.
(3) Isaiah 11:2 - Knowledge and Fear of the LORD (3) Matthew 4:10 - YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.
The correlations are in concept, not word-for-word.
To have the Holy Spirit is to think and act in godly ways. Since Jesus had the Spirit without measure, to have the mind of Christ is to have the mind of God. "What Would Jesus Do" (WWJD) is an apt euphemism for being "led by the Spirit" or determining God's will.
