Hi, Check out my examination of the approaching wrath of God as it affected the Roman Church. The article was started for the purpose of documenting the reason the Romans were getting into trouble but at the same time this trouble was caused by the pressures of the advancing wrath of God. The Book of Romans definitely has a different reading when seen from a preteristic (though it be more an Orthodox Preterism) viewpoint. If there is any interest I thought we might revisit this thread started by one of our inactive members. I think his article brings up some interesting questions as to what went on during the years prior to the fall of Jerusalem. Questions like: "How bad was the pressure upon believers? Nero would blame the burning of Rome upon the Christians." and - The audience of Paul's letter were under great pressures and fears. There could even be the questioning whether Christ really changed them and had given them eternal life. (This is where the question "will Jesus find faith when He comes?" arises.)
These are very pertinent with regards to the times leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem and involves certain Scripture such as Rev. 20 which, in my opinion, refers to those times.
