Firstly, this is not a post expecting a reply! It's huge and is mostly a list of verses with a few of my comments thrown in. These are just notes. Of course, you are welcome to post comments if you want, I'm just letting you know I'm not expecting it.
This is not a position I currently hold, it's just something I'm looking into, at the suggestion of another forum participant here.
Here's a list of New Testament verses that contain the words "flesh" or "spirit."
Verses that, in my opinion, clearly do not use those words in covenant context, I've deleted, leaving only the verse reference.
If I was uncertain or there was a remote possibility that the words were reflective of the old or new covenant body, I left the verse in tact.
If a covenant body interpretation is clearly possible, I've bolded the verse.
My comments are all preceded by three hyphens, like this: ---

(John 1:13 NASB) who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
(John 1:14 NASB) And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:32 NASB) John testified saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.
---I deleted the parallel verses to this in the other gospels, but when I read this one, I had the thought that the New Covenant is from heaven, and Jesus, who is the mediator and who would ultimately be the first fruits of that covenant, the receiving of the Spirit here could represent that covenant, in a way.
(John 1:33 NASB) "I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, 'He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'
(John 3:5 NASB) Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
(John 3:6 NASB) "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(John 3:8 NASB) "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
(John 3:34 NASB) "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.

(John 4:24 NASB) "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
(John 6:51 NASB)
(John 6:52 NASB)
(John 6:53 NASB) So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.
---Here, "flesh" is used, yet Jesus is talking about the New Covenant. And we know that eating his flesh is not literal.
(John 6:54 NASB) "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
---Here, "flesh" is used, yet Jesus is talking about the New Covenant. And we know that eating his flesh is not literal.
(John 6:55 NASB) "For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
(John 6:56 NASB) "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
---I see these last four verses as a problem for the flesh/spirit/covenant concept. These are all clear references to the New Covenant.
(John 6:63 NASB) "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
(John 7:39 NASB) But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
(John 8:15 NASB) "You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone.

(Acts 9:31 NASB) So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.
(Acts 10:19 NASB)

(Acts 20:28 NASB)
(Acts 21:4 NASB)
(Acts 21:11 NASB)
(Acts 23:8 NASB) For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor an angel, nor a spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
--- Left this one in for different reasons.
(Acts 23:9 NASB) And there occurred a great uproar; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and began to argue heatedly, saying, "We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"
--- Left this one in for different reasons.
(Acts 28:25 NASB)
(Romans 1:3 NASB) concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh,
(Romans 1:4 NASB) who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,
(Romans 1:9 NASB)
(Romans 2:27-29 NASB) And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law? (28) For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. (29) But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.
(Romans 3:20 NASB) because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
(Romans 4:1 NASB) What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?
(Romans 5:5 NASB)
(Romans 6:19 NASB)
(Romans 7:5 NASB) For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.
(Romans 7:6 NASB) But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.
(Romans 7:14 NASB) For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.
---I think this verse is contrary to the concept under study, in saying that the Law is spiritual. My view of Romans 7 is that Paul is writing of his life before the new covenant, because he is obviously no longer "in bondage to sin" under the new covenant.
(Romans 7:18 NASB) For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.
(Romans 7:25 NASB) Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
(Romans 8:2 NASB) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
(Romans 8:3 NASB) For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
(Romans 8:4 NASB) so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
(Romans 8:5 NASB) For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
(Romans 8:6 NASB) For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
(Romans 8:7 NASB) because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
(Romans 8:8 NASB) and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
(Romans 8:9 NASB) However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
(Romans 8:10 NASB) If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
(Romans 8:11 NASB)
(Romans 8:12 NASB) So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--
(Romans 8:13 NASB) for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
(Romans 8:14 NASB) For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
(Romans 8:15 NASB) For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"
(Romans 8:16 NASB) The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
(Romans 8:23 NASB) And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
(Romans 8:26 NASB)
(Romans 8:27 NASB)
(Romans 9:1 NASB)
(Romans 9:3 NASB) For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh,
(Romans 9:5 NASB) whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.
(Romans 9:8 NASB) That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.
(Romans 11:8 NASB)
(Romans 12:11 NASB)
(Romans 13:14 NASB) But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
(Romans 14:17 NASB)
(Romans 15:13 NASB)
(Romans 15:16 NASB)
(Romans 15:19 NASB)
(Romans 15:30 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 1:26 NASB) For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;
(1 Corinthians 2:4 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 2:10 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 2:11 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 2:12 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 2:13 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 2:14 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 3:1 NASB) And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.
---This verse also seems contrary to the study subject.
(1 Corinthians 3:16 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 4:21 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 5:3 NASB) For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.
(1 Corinthians 5:4 NASB) In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
(1 Corinthians 5:5 NASB) I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
(1 Corinthians 6:11 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 6:16 NASB) Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH."
(1 Corinthians 6:17 NASB) But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
(1 Corinthians 6:19 NASB) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
(1 Corinthians 7:34 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 7:40 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:3 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:4 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:7 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:8 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:9 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:11 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 12:13 NASB) For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 14:2 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 14:14 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 14:15 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 14:16 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 15:39 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 15:45 NASB)
(1 Corinthians 15:50 NASB) Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
(1 Corinthians 16:18 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 1:17 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 1:22 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 2:13 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 3:3 NASB) being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
(2 Corinthians 3:6 NASB) who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
(2 Corinthians 3:8 NASB) how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory?
(2 Corinthians 3:17 NASB) Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
(2 Corinthians 3:18 NASB) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
(2 Corinthians 4:11 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 4:13 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 5:5 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 5:16 NASB) Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.
(2 Corinthians 6:6 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 7:1 NASB) Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
---Another that would not be supportive.
(2 Corinthians 7:5 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 7:13 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 10:2 NASB) I ask that when I am present I need not be bold with the confidence with which I propose to be courageous against some, who regard us as if we walked according to the flesh.
(2 Corinthians 10:3 NASB) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
(2 Corinthians 10:4 NASB) for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
(2 Corinthians 11:4 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 11:18 NASB) Since many boast according to the flesh, I will boast also.
(2 Corinthians 12:7 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 12:18 NASB)
(2 Corinthians 13:14 NASB)
(Galatians 1:16 NASB) to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood,
(Galatians 2:16 NASB) nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
(Galatians 2:20 NASB) "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
(Galatians 3:2 NASB)
(Galatians 3:3 NASB) Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
(Galatians 3:5 NASB) So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?
(Galatians 3:14 NASB)
(Galatians 4:6 NASB)
(Galatians 4:23 NASB) But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise.
(Galatians 4:29 NASB) But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.
---Sounds promising, but this is about Isaac and Ishmael. The new covenant did not yet exist.
(Galatians 5:5 NASB) For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.
(Galatians 5:13 NASB) For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
(Galatians 5:16 NASB) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
(Galatians 5:17 NASB) For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
(Galatians 5:18 NASB) But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
(Galatians 5:19 NASB) Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
(Galatians 5:22 NASB) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
(Galatians 5:24 NASB) Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
(Galatians 5:25 NASB) If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
(Galatians 6:1 NASB)
(Galatians 6:8 NASB) For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
(Galatians 6:12 NASB) Those who desire to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.
---A problem with many of these verses is that if covenant bodies are represented, then individuals can be members of both bodies at the same time.
(Galatians 6:13 NASB) For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh.
(Galatians 6:18 NASB)
(Ephesians 1:13 NASB)
(Ephesians 1:17 NASB)
(Ephesians 2:2 NASB)
(Ephesians 2:3 NASB) Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
(Ephesians 2:11 NASB) Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands--
---"Gentiles in the flesh"?
(Ephesians 2:15 NASB) by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,
(Ephesians 2:18 NASB) for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
(Ephesians 2:22 NASB) in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
(Ephesians 3:5 NASB) which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;
(Ephesians 3:16 NASB)
(Ephesians 4:3 NASB) being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
(Ephesians 4:4 NASB) There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
(Ephesians 4:23 NASB)
(Ephesians 4:30 NASB)
(Ephesians 5:18 NASB)
(Ephesians 5:29 NASB) for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,
(Ephesians 5:31 NASB)
(Ephesians 6:5 NASB) Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;
(Ephesians 6:12 NASB) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
(Ephesians 6:17 NASB)
(Ephesians 6:18 NASB)
(Philippians 1:19 NASB)
(Philippians 1:22 NASB) But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose.
---Obviously, this can't refer to the old covenant body.
(Philippians 1:24 NASB) yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.
---Neither can this.
(Philippians 1:27 NASB) Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
(Philippians 2:1 NASB) Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

(Acts 23:9 NASB) And there occurred a great uproar; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and began to argue heatedly, saying, "We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"
