(John 3:13 NASB) "No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. The above verse causes lots of head scratching, wondering how Jesus could say he had ascended to heaven while he was still here on earth. But there is an easy solution to this dilemma: Jesus didn't say those words! That was John's commentary. Sometimes we just need to think outside the box that our Bible translations put us in and realize that the placement of quotation marks and the words in red (in the Bibles that have that feature) are things decided by translators and editors. I believe the words of Jesus there in John 3 stop at verse 12 and that John 3:13-21 is commentary by the author (i.e., John).
