Can you just imagine? I know those that know me well would cringe at the idea. They would probably say I'm on my way to another nervous breakdown again. Anyway, with all my problems, bad looks, no money, narcissistic tendencies, etc., I still think I would be a better President that what we have now, and even his predecessor. But, come to think about it, that wouldn't take much, would it? When I was a kid, somewhere in my early teens, I left my dad know that I wanna be the President. He said I would never be a good one. I asked why. And he said, "because you don't understand deficit spending." Well, wherever his eternal soul is, I would like him to know, I do now. I imagine there are quite a few people that understand deficit spending these days. And if they don't, they soon will if the country keeps going the down Democratic road. So who would like to be my campaign manager? And would like to be the Vice President? And most importantly, who would like to be the first lady? And, of course, I'll have to have an intern. I wonder if Monica is still available. So what do you think? Do I have a chance? President Didy - 2012

I don't know much about politics and such and I have this horrible tendency to analyze everything in light of Scripture. Although I would like to talk about what you said, what I am going to say about what you said is definitely off topic...but since you said it, I am going to " run" with it... In reference to your father, you said, " Well, wherever his eternal soul is..." So, my question is " Why do you believe your father has an eternal soul?" In other words, what Scriptures would you use to develop that thought? Blessings!

Mell, Have you never heard that phrase before. It's a figure of speech. It simply means I would like my dad to know that I do now understand deficit spending.

Let's forget the figure of speech for now. Let's leave your dad out of this for a moment. Do you believe people are born with an eternal soul? If someone else had said what you said, I would be asking them as well...you were the first to say something like that on this forum (I believe)... Depending how you answer that question, it has interesting theological implications...

...Do you believe people are born with an eternal soul? ... Depending how you answer that question, it has interesting theological implications... That subject sounds like a good candidate for a thread of its own. Also, I suggest making it a topic for general discussion and not demand a response from one specific individual.

So, asking a question has now somehow become a "demand?" Really...

So, asking a question has now somehow become a "demand?" Really... Yep! I double clicked the word and found "To ask to be informed of" (I'm loving this feature too much Allyn! ). But I think the comment was that the question was directed solely at one person when it would make a great topic open for all to reply to. Just trying to include everyone!

Thanks, Morris!
Ted, I thought you made your question to didymus quite clear the first time you asked it (you even used color to make it stand out!) Since in his reply he chose not to address it, my thinking is that he didn't really want to get into it. Pressing the issue by asking him a second time sort of gave it a more forceful air, which is why I used the word "demand."
But just because didy doesn't want to discuss it doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed. So if you want to open it for discussion, go for it! I just don't think one specific person should be pressed into a discussion over a term mentioned casually.

I just don't think one specific person should be pressed into a discussion over a term mentioned casually. Then according to Didy's OWN rules of engagement, in which he has taken all those professional communication courses, he should have told me he had no desire to pursue the matter and I would have dropped it quick! Do you really think his was helpful at all? <-- please don't be offended by my direct question to you. It is just my attempt at trying to find out things... BTW, you are assuming Didy doesn't want to discuss it. Did you ask him and clarify? Oops, sorry, that is not allowed here. It wouldn't be the first time that I have made very specific questions quite clear to Didy. He brings his opinion here quite boldly in the form of posts and yet he won't answer simple questions. What is he afraid of? Maybe he is just pretending to be a preterist and doesn't know how to answer in "preterist" communication... Why don't you publicly respond to him and tell him that if he doesn't want to answer clarifying questions about the things that he posts (initiating), then perhaps he should stop posting. Too much to ask, I guess, but not from me though...hmmmmm. I am really sick and tired of a society that prohibits direct interaction between people. All things must be done in a "neutral" manner, away from the initial contact "zone" where the poor little people have all the rights and are afraid of getting hurt. Preterism has very little room for people like that, but I guess that won't go over very well either... What if Jesus asked Didy the same question I did and got the same response I did. You folks would be all over him...and it wouldn't be with praise! And no..............I am not comparing myself to Jesus, just in case some are inclined to think that way.

Then according to Didy's OWN rules of engagement, in which he has taken all those professional communication courses, I didn't say I have taken communications courses. I said I have training in communications. The question you asked was about a figure of speech. My statement was not a theological statement, and I thought I made that plain. But apparently not plain enough for your standards. I thought your question was simply regarding my father, not an all inclusive. My answer should have been sufficient. Now if my statement sparked an "that would be an interesting topic" feeling in you, fine. And I will answer in the appropriate thread. That is, when I have an answer. But, right now, I am busy building my new forum site that was launched yesterday. In case you are interested it's at: www.wayoftruth.motion-forum.netPresident Didy - 2012

I hardly doubt I would ask what Scriptures you would use in reference to your father or the idiom... My whole question was based upon the point of the "eternal soul" and you missed it. That's fine. I no longer expect anyone to understand my questions. I won't ask any more questions. It is quite pointless anyway.

You kept referring to the figure of speech so much so that I had to tell you to forget that - to try to understand the original question that made zero mention of any kind of figure of speech... My question was not about your particular phrasing. My question was concerning the eternal soul within that phrasing. Why you could differentiate between the two is an utter loss to me. It's quite obvious you did not understand my question...especially by my "theological" use of "...what Scriptures would you use to develop that thought?" I hardly doubt I would ask what Scriptures you would use in reference to your father or the idiom... eternal soul, yes. Mell, Your original question didn't bother me. But you incessant beating the thin to death does. I answered your question. My statement, "Wherever his (my father's) eternal soul is......," was meant as a metaphor. I was simply saying, "wherever my father is, I want him to know..." Why can't you get that through you thick head? It looks to me that others got it. President Didy - 2012

Now, can we back to the original intent of this thread? Can you just imagine? I know those that know me well would cringe at the idea. President Didy, Pastor Didy, Hollywood Didy. You're becoming quite the man about town. Why not Do-wa-didy? Didy-dum, Didy-do.
