Who is the woman of Revelation 12:1-2? Who is the man child that was delivered of the woman? And how do your answers affect the understanding of the following verses? Revelation 12:6 - And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. Revelation 12:13 - And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. Revelation 12:17 - And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. I ask this question because of an attachment that was given me by a dispensational acquaintance. The website for this attachment is www.pre-trib.org/data/pdf/Ice-TheWomaninRevelation.pdfBlessings!

Who is the woman of Revelation 12:1-2? The Church! Jesus! My understanding wasn't affected, perhaps because I studied this in the past. I added my personal thoughts to the verses. The church on the earth (i.e. the wilderness), from the ascension to the second coming/parousia. When Jesus ascended back to heaven, satan was cast out into the earth, and knowing his time was short he persecuted the saints of the Most High Daniel 7:25-27; Revelation 11:2,3. I think the remnant of her seed, was the first century saints that had the testimony of Jesus (Revelation 1:2,9) and kept his commandments (Revelation 14:12). I went to the website, and the attachment seem to be an attempt to refute replacement theolgy. Just my thoughts! The Sower~

I have no trouble identifying Israel as the woman as spelled out in that article because the symbols do point to her. And the Romans did persecute the Jews when the emperor kicked them out of Rome. It was how Paul came to meet Priscilla and Aquila in Corinth. They were however part of the elect remnant that gets fed by the Lord.
Acts 18:1 - After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
Acts 18:2 - And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
Joseph in his dream - which Jacob had no problem understanding that the sun, moon and stars were he & his wife and their 11 other sons; is the first mention of what this symbol represents.
But the 2 mentions of the woman fleeing to the wilderness where she is fed, first by God but then by whom? (see Zec 5:9,10,11 for a clue of how Jerusalem gets morphed into Babylon in Rev.) Because later when John sees this woman in the wilderness she is then attired as a harlot riding the beast. The story of Korah's rebellion can also be seen in the earth opening up her mouth to swallow the rebels. Is that help from the earth by making a grave for them? It is then that the dragon turns from his persecution of the woman to go after the remnant of her seed. Now we find Christians are in view because they KEEP the commands of God AND have the testimony of Christ.
Neither of which this woman who brought forth the child before she travailed had in the end when we see her as the harlot - because when she forsook the Lord, she swallowed the devil's lies hook, line and sinker!
