Don Preston got snowed in. Sooo...Needless to say. He's all revved up with nowhere to go. Don was supposed to be at a preterist conference this weekend in Daleville Alabama. But...Global warming had some different plans.
So...Don will be sharing his four lectures "Live" on ad70.net.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, at 2 P.M. Pacific Standard Time. Each lecture should take about 45 minutes each. If we have time at the end we might open up the phone lines for questions.
Here are the topics...
Monday - This We Say To You By the Word of the Lord
Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, that what he was saying was taken directly from what Jesus had taught earlier. Scholarship is virtually unanimous in agreeing that Paul was drawing on the Olivet Discourse.
What many do not realize is that if this is true-- and it most assuredly is-- is
that this proves beyond any doubt that 1 Thessalonians 4 was a prediction of
Christ's coming in AD 70! This lesson will demonstrate the absolute perfect
harmony between the Olivet Discourse and Thessalonians.
Wednesday - You Will Not Be Raptured Away
The dispensational rapture doctrine is the dominant view of eschatology in evangelical Christianity, and 1 Thessalonians 4 is the foundational text offered in support of that doctrine. However, did you know
that the rapture doctrine as taught by our dispensational friends, is not found,
at all, in Thessalonians...or anywhere else in the NT? This lesson is a complete
refutation of the rapture doctrine.
Thursday - In Flaming Fire!
2 Thessalonians 1 is one of the most emotionally charged eschatology texts in the NT! Preachers dramatically appeal to the text to get folks to "walk down the aisle!" Yet, 99.9% of all modern interpretations
of 2 Thessalonians completely and totally ignore what the text actually says!
This lesson is actually an exercise in proper hermeneutic, but, it powerfully
establishes the truth of Covenant Eschatology.
Friday - We Shall Meet Him In The Air!
This lesson contains a theological Atom Bomb! Building on the world's best linguistic scholarship, Preston demonstrates that when we take the words of 1 Thessalonians 4 in their proper
grammatical-historical, and linguistic context, and within the context of the
story of God's dealings with Israel, that it becomes irrefutably clear that Paul
was not anticipating the sudden disappearance of the church from the earth. He
was anticipating the restoration of the fellowship lost through sin! This is one
of the most powerful lessons you will ever hear! Very, very challenging
stuff!
Come early, stay late and join us in the chat room.
