With the current discussion about the spiritual/physical resurrection, I got to thinking about another resurrection passage - Matt. 27:52-53.
While we may not all agree on whether or not there is going to be a physical resurrection, there was a physical resurrection at Jesus' crucifixion.
I find Matthew's account of this resurrection very puzzling. It seems like a big deal to me if saints were physically coming out of the tomb and entering the city. And yet all we have is this one sentence about it. It isn't covered in the other Gospels. What are we to make of it?
Where did these resurrected saints get their clothes from (assuming they came out of ossuaries)? Who were the saints that were raised? Who did they talk to? What did they say? Where did they go afterwards? Did they return to the grave? Or did they get taken up into Heaven in their bodies?
Are there any OT prophecies that speak to this particular resurrection? Does this particular resurrection have any connection to NT prophecies?
