Good morning. Can someone here please point me to a study, or to a discussion on a forum on the high priest coming out of the Holy of Holies on the day of atonement. Some say it was the Resurrection of Jesus and some the return of Jesus in the clouds in 70 AD in which that happened? I need some reading for the weekend. Thanks

Thanks Morning Steve, I am not aware of a study on this but I am sure there is. I enjoy reading Lev. 16 about this high priest obligation.

Thanks I am not sure whether this answers your question but it does deal with the day of atonement... www.eschatology.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=339:lev-23-the-feasts-of-the-lord-part-4&catid=109:typology&Itemid=61It is the article "Feasts of the Lord" Part 4 by David Curtis who also believes in the corporate resurrection very similar to Ward Fenley, William Bell, Don Preston, Sam Frost, etc...

The day of atonement had 3 parts to it which the high priest performed: entering the holy of holies to consecrate the holiest place with blood for which he changed his clothes first. This Christ did when He died on the cross.
And when he came out, before he put back on his original clothes and appeared to the congregation, he released the scapegoat into the wilderness to take away the sins of the people. Then after that he changed his clothes came into the inner sanctuary and made the burnt offering of the fat on the altar.
Jesus was the living scapegoat who took away the sins of the world into a land not yet inhabited by men - heaven, and He accomplished this before He appeared again to the disciples. I believe the burnt offering which was a sweet savour (Lev 3:4-5) were the martyrs of Christ. But the remaining flesh which was burned outside the camp pictures the apostates who paid for the sins of their fathers with their own lives.
Notice too that other men were involved in releasing the scapegoat and also in burning the bodies of the sacrifices outside the camp at the end.
Who delivered the scapegoat except the Jews? Death is the way the living Christ was released from the bondage of His own flesh. And who burnt the bodies of the sacrifices but the Romans?
So you could look at it as the day of the Lord being the entire period which the day of atonement pictures - which covers Christ's testimony in the earth according to the scriptures.
