Goodafternoon everybody, For quite some time now I have been enjoying reading the blog of Steven Sizer, a pastor of Christ Church, Virginia Water, Surrey. He recently authored a book called Zion's Christian Soldiers: The Bible, Israel and the Church. I'm going to pick it up this weekend. Comments from many say it destroys dispensationalist teaching of Lindsey/Lahaye and shows the Kingdom of God is a present reality today. I thought this would fit in with preterist teaching. Smiles and feelings are what theology is all about. Right??? Well... maybe not the study of theology. But love and encouragement is what living your life in Christ is all about, right???

I just got a book yesterday call, "Pagan Christianity," by George Barna and Frank Viola. I'll let y'all know how it goes. I've read Pagan Christianity by Frank Viola. He was the only author, so I'm thinking George Barna must have joined him in writing a newer edition. Mine is copyright 2002. I read it several years ago; as I recall, I thought it was very good. Some of my beliefs have changed since then, so I don't know if I'd agree with it as much (or maybe even more) than I did before. Let us know what you think of it. Bev

Nothing meant against you, if it was taken even a little bit like that. I was just representing the CARM theological philosophy - minus the Scripture

I have read his " Rethinking the Wineskin" and it is quite opposed to our normal church gatherings... What would a synopsis of " Pagan Christianity" be?

I have read his " Rethinking the Wineskin" and it is quite opposed to our normal church gatherings... What would a synopsis of " Pagan Christianity" be? Have you ever wondered why we Christians do what we do for church every Sunday morning? Why do we "dress up" for church? Why does the pastor preach a sermon each week? Why do we have pews, steeples, choirs, and seminaries? This volume reveals the startling truth: most of what Christians do in present-day churches is not rooted in the New Testament, but in pagan culture and rituals developed long after the death of the apostles. Coauthors Frank Viola and George Barna support their thesis with compelling historical evidence in the first-ever book to document the full story of modern Christian church practices. www.amazon.com/Pagan-Christianity-Exploring-Church-Practices/dp/141431485X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238348881&sr=8-1

I guess I could have guessed that much. But I am just a heretic preterist who understands nothing...at least according to the majority...
